Delete your account.

How

Open AskAna, go to You, and choose Delete my account at the bottom of the page. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm.

If you cannot sign in, email ana@askana.style from the address on the account and it will be done by hand.

What is deleted

• Every photograph you uploaded. Outfit photos, Ready Check photos, the photo on your style profile. They are removed from storage and checked afterwards to confirm they are actually gone, not just marked as deleted.
• Your styling history - every request you made, the recommendations that came back, and anything you saved.
• Your style quiz answers.
• Your name and email address - removed from your account and from any decision your friends can still open.
• Your login - closed permanently. You cannot sign back in, and the email address becomes free to use again.

What stays, and why

Decisions you created stay, and so do the votes your friends cast on them. They lose your name and become anonymous.

This is deliberate. When a friend tapped A or B for you, that was partly their action, not only yours - deleting it would erase something they did. So the decision survives without you attached to it.

Your name also comes off the Circles you belong to, the invitations people sent you, and your record as a voter on other people's decisions. Your taste profile, your notification history, your reminder subscription and your privacy settings are deleted outright.

Two kinds of record are left, and we would rather say so than round it up. A Circle you created stays, because deleting it would remove everybody else's membership of it along with yours. And where an old activity record is tied only to a browser rather than to an account - a shared laptop makes those indistinguishable - we leave it, because we cannot tell your row from a housemate's, and deleting somebody else's by mistake is the worse error. Neither carries your email, and neither can be used to identify you.

Deleting some of it, and keeping your account

You do not have to close your account to remove things from it.

• A photograph - delete it from your style profile, or from the request it belongs to. It goes from our storage as well as from the page, not just out of sight.
• A decision - delete it and it stops being open to anyone you sent it to.
• Anything else - write to hello@askana.style and say what you want removed. A person reads it, and you will normally hear back within two working days.

Timing

Everything above happens immediately, while you wait. Backups are kept for a short period for disaster recovery and age out on their own; they are never used to restore a deleted account.
